Gorham Greenbrier Sterling Silver 6-Piece Flatware Set, 1938 — Carving Set, Serving Spoons & Pie Server

A distinguished 6-piece sterling silver flatware collection in the Greenbrier pattern by Gorham, dated 1938 — a pattern synonymous with the woodland plant that the designer J. Russell Price drew his inspiration for the design.   The greenbriar plant with it's  delicate vine and flower motif shown along the edges of the handles and the Gorham name to represent American silver craftsmanship at its finest. 

Set includes:

• 3-Piece Carving Set — Large carving knife (~13.5"), carving fork (~11"), and knife sharpener (~14⅜"), all with sterling silver handles stamped "sterling silver handles" and stainless blades. Measurements are approx. Presented in the original Black, Starr & Gorham NY protective fabric bag.
• Solid Sterling Silver Serving Spoon — approx. 8¾", stamped Gorham, sterling silver, and 1938 on the reverse.
• Solid Sterling Silver Salad Serving Spoon — approx. 8¾", stamped Gorham, sterling silver, and 1938 on the reverse.
• Sterling Silver Pie Server — ~approx. 10", sterling handle with stainless blade.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Some pieces would benefit from additional polishing; the original fabric bag has a torn ribbon closure and some slight stains.

The sterling silver serving spoons retain their hallmarks (when appropriate) and pattern integrity. The spoons are stamped Gorham and bear the same design as on the rest of the collection, therefore this entire set is listed as Gorham. All pieces are stamped sterling, with the exception of the carving set which is stamped sterling handles.
