A Rhinestone Masterpiece from Trifari's Golden Era

Few costume jewelry pieces command a room quite like this Trifari poodle brooch. Every inch of her gold-tone form is encrusted with a dazzling symphony of multi-faceted clear rhinestones in an array of shapes — rounds, baguettes, marquises — catching light from every angle. A single red glass cabochon serves as her eye, adding a flash of personality to an already theatrical piece.

Provenance & Attribution

This brooch is attributed to Alfred Philippe, Trifari's legendary head designer who brought the exacting standards of Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels to American costume jewelry. While no patent number was assigned to this specific pin, a closely related poodle design — patent no. 131,371, dated 1942 — is documented on page 177 of American Costume Jewelry by Brunialti and attributed to Philippe. The similarities in construction and design language are unmistakable.

This piece is part of Trifari's celebrated Jeweled Symphony collection, a line that exemplified Philippe's philosophy: fine jewelry craftsmanship at every scale.
