Antique Heubach Koppelsdorf German Bisque Doll 21"

Beautiful bisque shoulder head doll on kid-o-lene body universal joints (wire and button joints) at shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. Composition lower arms and blue sleep eyes.  She is marked Germany, 275 3/0, Heubach Koppelsdorf.

This mark belongs to Ernest Heubach of Koppelsdorf, Thuringia, Germany. He was in business from 1887 to around 1925. He only made porcelain doll heads which he sold to other firms for assembly with bodies. Heubach is known to have made typical dolly face dolls and also dolls with roguish eyes and water melon mouths.

She is stamped on the nape of her neck 275, 3/0, Heubach Koppelsdorf.  The #275 is the mold number for this doll design and the 3/0 is the size 3" within a range of heads of the same design.

The kid-o-lene bodies were made as an imitation of kid leather with the added feature that they were somewhat washable. They came from many different companies from 1906-1925.

In 1979 this doll was restored which included new eyelids built with handmade human hair, and lashes, painted waxed, and set in head to sleep. Her arms, fingers, and crown to the head were repaired.

Included are the restoration notes and description of the doll.  The doll has a condition issue with the dress she is wearing is stained, her right arm has some cracking on the kid-o-lene, and she could use some cleaning.
