Vintage 1958 Poor Pitiful Pearl Orig. Box Extra Dress Brookglad Creations

This is a vintage Poor Pitiful Pearl doll that was based on the character that the cartoonist William Steig Horsman had created and that Brookglad Corp had marketed back in the late 1950's.

The Poor Pitiful Pearl doll comes with her original box stamped in  "This is Poor, Pitiful Pearl" and with Brookglad Corp. Brooklyn, NY stamp, a Poor, Pitiful Pearl instruction book, red and white polka dot scarf, blue and white dress, underwear, black shoes, black socks. Also included is an extra blue dress, blue petticoat, white socks and white shoes. Pearl is stamped Broockglad Creations on the back of her neck.

Pearl measures approx. 17" tall. Pearl has a condition issue with her sleepy eyes working but her blue eyes are scratched.  The hem on her blue and white dress is frayed and the booklet binding has come apart at the seams but is holding together.

This same doll is a book piece shown on page 70 of the book Baby-Boomer Dolls A Reference and Price Guide by Michele Karl.
